What am I doing wrong?

Do you ever have times when you're just so frustrated with yourself you could scream? I'm having a moment.
I suppose I should explain.
You see, at the beginning of November, my company decided to do a Biggest Loser type contest for people to participate in (totally voluntary). It involved being placed onto teams and access to a personal trainer once a week for a serious ass kicking (No lie, I literally felt like my ass had been handed to me on a plate). In essence between going to the gym at 5:30 AM three times a week, the once a week workout with our trainer, doing circuit training a couple of times a week on my lunch and then twice a week in the evening with friends from work - I've been working out a lot. About 8-9 times a week. Here's where the frustrating part comes in - I've only lost about 2 pounds. TWO pounds.

I think the most frustrating part is I know I'm capable of losing the weight. Before I got pregnant I had worked really hard to lose weight and had lost 60 pounds with the assistance of a weight loss pill. Said pills are VERY expensive and I am trying desperately to do it the old fashioned way this time. What am I doing wrong that this last half of the "baby weight" won't come off? People say that breastfeeding your baby just melts the weight right off. Well, it did at first but after the first 25-30 pounds was gone my body was like whoa, we're done. I feel like screaming at my body:

"WTF! I have more to lose!!"

Pfft. For all the good it does. No matter what I do, I cannot seem to get past this plateau I'm stuck on. Some may say, well you're eating all wrong. It's what you eat. Granted I am not a perfect eater - I struggle to get all of my fruits and vegetables in. But I have gotten SO much better in the last few months at watching what I eat. I really have to watch my portion sizes because I know that is something I struggle with. I'm already doing most of what I think I should be.. right? I don't drink soda or carbonated drinks of any kind. I don't drink alcohol except once in a great while. I cook most of our own meals and am extremely conscious of what goes in them. I don't even eat fast food that often anymore, which for me is a HUGE step. So, here I am.

Anyone have suggestions? Words of advice? Want to buy my extra 25 pounds? I'll sell them to ya DIRT cheap! I have started working out to the P90X videos (have you seen the cheesy infomercials? They're hysterical) and I can tell a difference in my strength, but I measure my success by my jeans and I cannot fit in my old ones so that means I'm not where I want to be. In any case, I would love to hear what other people are doing that has worked for them and tips for success. There's got to be a way for me to reach my goal but I'll be damned if I can figure it out!

I'm in the same boat. Except I've only lost 19 lbs. and I have many more to go.

I know it's the eating. I know exactly what and how much to eat but I don't always follow 'the plan'. There's an awesome website called Eat2getfit dot com. It's $39 for the whole year and it's a collection of recipes that are scaled for your exact calorie needs and balanced for fats/carbs/proteins. It's eating without having to think about what you can eat.

When I follow it, I do really well. I haven't been following it well enough because I've only lost 2 lbs. this month too. Which sucks because I'm 3.5 lbs. from a MAJOR goal and I really want to hit it!

Well I have to say I absoulutly love weight watchers. they are awesome. I have hit a plato as well and I talked to my ww instructor and she told me to make sure I am eating at least one ounce of protein with my meals. We will see what the scale says on tuesday but my scale says I lost 3-4 pounds this week. The protein helps keep you fuller longer. For breakfast I eat egg whites and the 45 calorie sarah lee bread. 4 egg whites in weight watcher world are 1 point and 1 whole egg is 2 points. Another thing you can try is counting your calories (which is like weight watchers) You take your weight times the number by 15 that number you get is the most calories you should eat in one day. If you want to loose 1 pound a week you minus 500 calories a day and if you want to loose 2 pounds a week you minus 1000 calories a day. You shouldn't go less than that. If you read the book dieting for dummies it's all in there. And it is probably the best diet book out there aside from weight watchers.

I'm sorry...it is so dang frustrating losing the baby weight. Heck, I'm stuggling, but then again I'm not working out or trying that hard. I know that I can't complain too much until I actually start working on it. I just have a tough time getting started. What pill were you taking before?

Have you tried eating several small meals throughout the day? Also when we went to our nutritionalist they said to eat within 30 minutes of getting up in the morning. That way your metabolism could get jump started for the day....so maybe try that if your not. Also eat some protein before bed. And then they told us to eat a carb, vegi/fruit & protein for every meal. Very time consuming, but it does work. When I was actually following that meal plan, I lost quite a bit. And that was even without working out.

Everything's easy to say, harder to do.

Take a look at Sparkpeople.com It's FREE, has good community to chat with others about what works and doesn't, and you can track your calories vs exercise, etc.

My dad used their website and lost a ton of weight about a year and a half ago, and he's been really successful about keeping it off.

Good luck!

After reading all the other comments all i would add is to drink plenty of water. I have been told several times that when you work out water is the best drink. It can help you lose more weight. Good luck though.

A lot of it might have to do with your body trading fat for muscle that's why I like to track inches as well as weight when I diet and exercise. Keep up the great work!

I am having the same problem losing my baby weight and I adopted. This is the first time ever I have felt like I needed to diet and it so frustrating I want to scream. Since I get up at 5:00 and get home at 6:30 I don't have a lot of extra tiem to exercise and my body feels it.

Man I hate being fat!

Thanks to everyone for their great advice. I am now tracking the food I eat so at least I'll have an idea of calories eaten to calories burned. I appreciate all of your support! And Jenny, you are so NOT fat! I would love to be as "fat" as you supposedly are! lol
